Zygoma Implants

For cases with severe bone resorption.

Successful prosthetic rehabilitation of patients with severe bone resorption in the maxilla is often compromised by the inability to obtain sufficient anchorage for the prosthesis. Such patients seek a non-removable / permanent solution that involves minimal surgical procedures and reduced treatment time, without sacrificing their expectations of success.

The development of the Zygoma implant presents a unique alternative for rehabilitating the severely resorbed maxilla, with only one surgical procedure and without the need for grafting

Two zygoma implants and four conventional implants supporting a upper non-removable bridge.

Advantages to zygoma prosthetic rehabilitation

Disadvantages to zygoma prosthetic rehabilitation

  • Avoid Sinus Augmentation/Lift (bone grafting)
  • Acrylic bridge that can be fabricated and functioning within just a few hours after surgery
  • Shorter treatment time vs. sinus grafting and posterior (back) implants

  • Prosthesis will extend to palatal space (see above photos)
  • Must have clinically symptom free and pathology free maxillary sinuses
  • Technique sensitive surgical procedure to place and restore prosthesis
